Plains Camp is nestled in an Acacia Knobthorn thicket overlooking the extensive Timbertene Plain which abounds in wild animals who come to quench their thirst at a nearby reservoir. Built in the style of an 18th naturalist’s rest camp, elegantly furnished with family heirlooms, polished brass & silver it is reminiscent of a bygone golden era. Guests can sink into comfortable leather sofas while reading a book from an interesting Africana book collection or survey the plains from the comfort of an armchair. An honesty bar is conveniently situated in the lounge area for that proverbial gin and tonic. Delicious meals are enjoyed at an elegant dining room table decorated with fine white linen and silver candle sticks. The firepit on the open deck is a wonderful place to enjoy pre-dinner drinks & snacks while recounting the day’s sightings or listening to the fascinating stories of your rangers life in the African bush. For others they may wish to simply soak up the solitude and marvel at the inky black skies while trying to identify stars of the Southern Hemisphere.
